Burning 6.5 TRX every time you send USDT is money thrown away. Here is the arithmetic, with the live numbers read off the board as this page opens.

The numbers

A standard USDT TRC20 transfer consumes about 65,000 energy. Without staked or rented energy, the TRON network burns TRX to cover it. Since proposal #104 set the energy unit price at 100 SUN in August 2025, down from 210 SUN, that burn is 6.5 TRX per transfer. At $0.20 per TRX — substitute today's price, we don't track it — that is $1.30 a send, or roughly $390 a month at ten transfers a day.

With rented energy the same transfer costs 1.36 TRX at the cheapest quote on the board as this page loads, currently NETTS. Even at the market average of 2.93 TRX you are paying well under half the burn. Nothing about the comparison is subtle.

What the board actually shows

The dearest 65k/1h quote in the same scan is 5.30 TRX — the same product, several times apart. That spread, not the decision to rent, is where the remaining money sits: choosing badly among platforms can cost you a good part of what renting saved.

What about staking TRX for "free" energy?

You can stake TRX to receive energy instead of renting it. The catch is not the energy, it is the capital: staked TRX is locked and cannot be moved or spent, and how much energy a given stake yields depends on how much TRX the whole network has staked — a figure that moves and that this board does not track. So we are not going to hand you a break-even in months; anyone who does is guessing.

What we can give you is the shape of the trade. Renting is a per-use cost you can hold directly against 6.5 TRX on a page like this one, with nothing locked up. Staking is a capital commitment whose return has to be recomputed whenever the network's staking weight changes. For a handful of transfers a month, renting is plainly simpler. At volume large enough to make staking look attractive, work it out against your own throughput rather than against anyone's article.

When to still burn TRX

If you're sending one transaction this month and don't want to learn about energy rental — burn the 6.5 TRX and move on. For everyone else: rent.
